The number of downloads of mobile application “Yandex. Taxi” has exceeded 600 thousand

The number of downloads of mobile applications “Yandex/Taxi” for iOS and Android platforms has exceeded 600 thousand and increases by three thousand every day, - informed the project manager of “Yandex.Taxi” Leo Volozh.

“Yandex.Taxi” service was launched in October 2011 in Moscow. In a trial mode it is also available in Vologda, Voronezh, Kazan and Krasnoyarsk. It helps find and order the nearest to the user’s location taxi with the help of web-interface of mobile application for iPhone and Android platform. At the same time, according to Volozh, the company is not going to create a specialized application “Yandex.Taxi”  for iPad.

According to the data of “Yandex” the service “Yandex.Taxi” works with about 10 thousand cars from 150 partner taxi services or about a third part of licensed drivers of Moscow. Since June this index has increased almost twice.

There is an automatic system of priority selection of drivers based on cumulative rating in “Yandex.Taxi” – the user’s order will be directed to the free driver with the highest rating – noticed Volozh.

Service “Yandex.Taxi” maintains about 10 thousand orders per day and what is more the time of taxi arrival decreased to 10 minutes, informed the representatives of the company. It is worth saying that in the third quarter of 2012 the number of orders in “Yandex.Taxi” was about 26 thousand per week.

There has been added one more new feature to the mobile application which makes the service much more convenient and is aimed to attract more users to it. It is possible to pay the ride with the help of a bank card. The users won’t have to think if they have enough cash or if the driver has a change. New feature is available for the users of “Yandex.Taxi” for iPhone.
